Ingredients
- Toor Dal 1 cup soaked for 2 hours
- Moong dal ¼ cup soaked for 2 hours
- Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
- Green chillies 2
- Grated ginger 1 tsp
- Grated garlic 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Ghee 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds ¼ tsp
- Dry red chilli 2
- Onions ½ cup finely chopped
- Tomatoes ½ cup finely chopped
- Curry leaves
- Coriander 1 tbsp chopped
- Butter 1 tsp
Method
Mix both dals; add two and half cups of water, green chilli, ginger, salt and pressure cook it for about 10 minutes.
Heat the ghee in a pan, add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, garlic and dry red chilli, sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
Add the onions and fry it on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, till the onions turn transparent.
Add the tomatoes and a little water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, keep stirring
Add the cooked dal, little water and mix well and cook on a medium flame for 10 to 12 minutes, Add butter and keep stirring.
Put coriander leaves on top for garnishing.
