Podi Idli


Podi Idli is an instant recipe you can prepare in minutes using left over idlis using the available ingredients at home. This can be prepared buy tossing the idlis in spicy gunpowder/podi. Here is the recipe for Podi idli.

  1. Chana dal  4tbsp

  2. Urad dal 8tbsp

  3. Sesame seeds 2 tbsp

  4. Curry leaves 2 strands

  5. Red chilli 3-4

  6. Hing powder 1tsp

  7. Jaggery 2tsp

  8. Salt

  9. Ghee 2tbsp

Podi Idli2


  1. Dry roast chanal dal, urad dal, sesame seeds, curry leaves and red chillies separately.
  2. Once cooled blend together roasted ingredients with salt, jaggery and hing to a coarse powder.

  3. Chop the idlis into cubes and keep aside.

  4. In a pan heat 2 tbsp of ghee and add mustard.

  5. Once it starts spluttering add curry leaves.

  6. Add chopped idlis, 2tbsp of spicy powder(Add more according to your palate), and salt , toss it well till all the idlis are coated evenly.

  7. Toss it in high flame for 30 seconds . Podi idli is ready to serve.
